fromBSC, Bari earned amaster’s

for further graduate study in
mathematics. She livedmost
of her adult life inNewOrleans.
During her varied career, Bari
worked as a biostatistician for the
LSUSchool ofMedicine and the
LouisianaDepartment of Health,
was a reliability engineer for Boeing
during its rocket development
that landed aman on themoon,
and sold real estate. She loved to
sing andwas a theatre and dance
enthusiast and violinist. Shewas
a lifelongmember of theUnited
Methodist Church, having sung in
many choirs inBirmingham and
NewOrleans. Survivors include
a brother,
WadeNorton ‘49
of
Doraville, and a host of other
relativeswho graduated from
BSC. The college’s EdwardLee
NortonBoardof Advisors is named
after her uncle, a 1913graduate of
BSC’s predecessor, Birmingham
College.

veteran ofWorldWar II. After
serving his country inHawaii,
he receiveddegrees fromBSC
and theUniversity of Alabama as
well as a doctorate fromAuburn
University. As a professional
educator, Causeywas a teacher,
principal, district assistant
superintendent, andworked for the
AlabamaDepartment of Education
until he retired in 1988. He loved
tennis andwas inducted into
theBSCSportsHall of Fame in
1999; he alsowas an avid fan of
golf, football, and baseball. He is
survived by hiswife, four children,
and three step-children.

Andersonwas amanufacturer’s
representative for Hickory
Chair Co. for 23 years. He also
was a general manager of the
BirminghamHoliday Inns, and
before that, he owned the clothing

Anderson served as a chief petty
officer in theU.S. Navy during
WorldWar II, teaching classes
inmetal work in Florida and
Oklahoma, where themain focus
was repairing airplanes damaged
in combat. Hewas amember of
TrinityUnitedMethodist Church
andwas an avid fisherman and
golfer. Survivors include hiswife,

educator, passed awayonDec. 21, 2013, in
Granbury, Texas. Shewas 86.
Formany years, Knightwas amember of the
Weber StateUniversityContinuingEducation
staff inOgden, Utah, where she conceived
andmadepossiblemany groundbreaking
educational and social-betterment projects that
were fundedby federal and state grants. With
theWSUEducationDepartment, sheorganized
a successful program todeliver teacher
education classes tonativeNavajo speakers
that graduatedmore than60men andwomen
who could teach tribal children in their own
language. She alsoobtained funding for and
helped superviseparent and child education
projects on theUte reservation.
In retirement, Knight servedon various state and communityboards, including the
OgdenCityUrban Forest Committee. She enjoyed gardening, decorating and,most of
all, her family and friends.
ShemarriedU.S.NavyCapt.OrdeenKnight in1948 and raisedfive children. They
lived inKaneoheOahu,Hawaii; Imperial Beach and SanMateo, Calif.; Upper Saddle
River,N.J.; andfinallyHuntsville andOgden. She studiedbiology at BSC.
Survivors includeher children; brother,
Dr. RichardAnderson ’56
of Charlotte,
N.C.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her parentswere the lateBSCProfessor ofMusicRaymondAnderson andAgnes
HoughtonAnderson. Raymond influencedmany choralmusic programs in schools
and churches inBirmingham. He retired from the college in1971 and served for
several years on theBSCBoardof Trustees.
At the request of the family,memorial contributions canbemade to theRaymond
F. Anderson Scholarship through theOfficeof Institutional Advancement at BSC,
Box 549003, 900ArkadelphiaRoad, Birmingham, AL35254. The scholarshipwas
established after his death in1985; it is awarded annually to students concentrating
their studies inmusic.
