    Learning Objectives

In global and comparative studies, students learn about how different parts of the world are related. They also learn about various theories that can help explain these relationships. Additionally, students learn how to do comparative research, which looks at similarities and differences between different parts of the world. Finally, students in this major are encouraged to become fluent in a foreign language. This prepares them for graduate school or working in fields such as public service or the private sector.

Students who complete the global and comparative studies major will be able to:

    • Understand foundational global and comparative studies concepts, such as interdependence, development, sustainability, and human and international security.

    • Use comparative research methods to compare countries on topics including economics, political science, and sociology.

    • Use empirical resources to frame questions about globalization and how it affects different parts of the world.

    • Communicate their findings about global and comparative studies in an intelligent way.
