Dr. Edward Leonard III has been selected to be the next president of Birmingham-Southern College. Leonard, who has more than 20 years of experience in higher education leadership, will succeed Gen. Charles C. Krulak when he retires June 1.

Birmingham-Southern College has been granted reaffirmation of its accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), officials announced Thursday.

BSC Board of Trustees elects three new members
Birmingham-Southern elected three new members to its Board of Trustees at its spring meeting: Robert "Bob" M. Dixon Jr. '84 of Eufaula, Ala.; Walter "Wally" B. Evans Jr. of Birmingham; and John "Jamey" J. McMahon III '99 of Birmingham.

At Birmingham-Southern College's 156th commencement ceremony on May 16, some 200 students walked across the stage in Bill Battle Coliseum to receive their undergraduate degrees--and one special degree was conferred.
