An art installation by Charmaine Ortiz and Dr. Amber Scoon, in conjunction with the annual Art Students League/Sloss Furnaces, is on display through Oct. 29 in the Durbin Gallery at Birmingham-Southern College.

Former U.S. ambassador to speak at BSC
The Cross Cultural Committee at Birmingham-Southern College will welcome guest speaker Lino Gutierrez, former ambassador to Argentina, to the campus on Tuesday, Oct. 20 in celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month.

Two BSC students attend civic engagement conference
Birmingham-Southern students Hannah Hudson and Raven Knowlton traveled to Harvard University Sept. 25-27 to participate in an intensive training conference,  featuring top political practitioners on bipartisan advocacy and campus political engagement.

Birmingham-Southern welcomes historic class
Incoming enrollment grew by 24 percent this fall as Birmingham-Southern College welcomed its third largest group of new students in history.

Birmingham-Southern student wins scholarship from Alfa
Lindsay Higgins, a first-year student and Harrison Honors Scholar at BSC, was selected to be one of 100 award recipients of the 2015 Alfa Foundation Scholarship.

Pianist, faculty member to give recital at BSC
Margery Whatley, a Steinway Artist and adjunct professor of piano at BSC, will perform a free solo recital on Sunday, Sept. 20 at 3 p.m. at the Hill Recital Hall. The one-hour program will feature works by Mozart, Chopin, Liszt, and more. Whatley performs around the world and has recorded three CDs of music ranging from Bach to Gershwin.
