Volleyball selected to 2017 NCAA Tournament

After finishing second in the conference tournament and third in the south region, Birmingham-Southern’s women's volleyball team received an at-large bid to the 2017 NCAA Division III Volleyball Tournament, which will be held Nov. 9-11. The team, currently 20-8, will head to the Atlanta Regional hosted by No. 7 Emory University.

"This a tremendous honor for our program," said Head Coach Haven O'Quinn. "I am so very proud of our girls for what they have accomplished this season. I knew we weren't done yet. I am so glad to get them back on the court for practice and we are looking forward to the first match.”

The Panthers face Covenant College in the first round. This will be the second meeting of the two teams. BSC defeated Covenant 3-1 at home on Sept. 2 in their third match of the season.

The Scots (24-7) won the USA South Atlantic Conference tournament, topping Averett University—the top seed in the east—3-2 to earn their place in the tournament. The winner of the matchup with face the winner of Hanover College and Southern Athletic Association champion Berry College.
