Rise3 challenges BSC students to apply their skills and knowledge in the real world—whether that's working with a professor in a lab or on a theatre stage, interning with a company downtown or a non-profit group across the country, or serving the community here in Birmingham or on the other side of the world.
Rise3 invites students to think critically and creatively through research, internships and service learning. All classes and projects provide students opportunities to Explore. Experience. Excel. Before, during and after each experience, students reflect on their learning, personal growth, and how they have engaged with the world around them. Student projects are celebrated in campus-wide forums.
Students, who complete a rise3 experience, will be able to:
- Connect relevant experiences with academic content knowledge (e.g., concepts, theories, frameworks, methods)
- Explore the relationship between relevant experiences and self-knowledge (e.g., values, goals, abilities, professional aspirations)
- Analyze the relationship between relevant experiences and public values and interests.
