Brief Career Background:

Ginger Zingara is the newly appointed Director of Bands at Birmingham-Southern College. Previously she was an Adjunct Professor of music education at the University of Alabama Birmingham and an instructor at Vestavia Hills Conservatory of the Arts. Prior, she was Professor of Instrumental Music and Director of Bands at Dodge City Community College in Dodge City, Kansas, music education instructor at Troy University in Troy, Alabama and taught middle school and high school bands and orchestras in Georgia and Alabama. A couple of highlights of her career is earning the Sudler Flag of Honor from the John Philip Sousa Foundation, the highest honor recognizing outstanding band programs and having her band selected of only 16 bands from the United States to perform at the historic Lord Mayor’s Millennium Parade in London, England in front of 2 million + viewers, broadcast worldwide on BBC, and for the Queen of England and her family for the Y2K celebration. She has conducted and adjudicated throughout the United States, as well as China, France and England. She lives with her husband, Jim Zingara, Trumpet Professor at the University of Alabama Birmingham, and her rescue dog, Charlie, in Birmingham.
